This book studies the manifestation of leadership as expressed, narrativized, and represented by women
of African descent. It uses the language of “rights” and “power” to assert that Black women find strategic alternatives to the male-dominated leadership status quo and are the leaders of the future.

Carole Boyce Davies, an endowed professor of Africana Studies and Literatures in English at Cornell University, is a leading scholar of African Diaspora, Black feminist theories and literatures, and Black women’s writings internationally.
